3 out of 5 stars Well-intentioned, some recipes miss the mark   December 2, 2008
I received this book as a gift, and while I like the emphasis on whole, natural foods, some of the recipes just do not work as written. Example: the one-dish chicken dinner, that would have you combine quick-cooking chicken tenders along with veggies that require much longer to roast (carrots, sweet potatoes)...a disaster. The author seems to like her veggies crunchy, which may be a matter of taste but it just doesn't work sometimes (the basically raw carrots & celery in the lentil soup recipe). A few recipes have worked well, but overall I think she just is trying to cut too many corners in the interest of keeping things simple/fast. Some of the recipes we've tried do not seem well thought out.

5 out of 5 stars A Winner!   May 29, 2008
I have many cookbooks but I love this one for empowering busy moms
(and dads) to cook with fresh healthy ingredients and throw out the processed food that lurks in everyone's kitchen. The recipe for "nutricious nuggets" was worth buying the book for on it's own. My kids love it!!!

5 out of 5 stars Mom-a-licious: Fresh, Fast, Family Food for the Hot Mama in You!   May 23, 2008
I LOVE this cookbook. I purchased it for my family and we have utilized this cookbook more than any other we have in our house. We now make smoothies almost daily. I tell everyone about this and would recommend it to anyone who wants to cook healthy. It's fun to enjoy the kitchen again.

4 out of 5 stars Cute title, some good ideas   April 20, 2008
the title had me buying it. though my kids weren't thrilled with some of the dishes I liked, there's enough recipes in there for the family. If you liked this book for family-friendly food, you'll love "The Frantic Woman's Guide to Feeding Family and Friends" because it gives fun ideas for you to do with your kids and lots of shortcuts in the kitchen that saves time.

4 out of 5 stars Motivating and Fun   March 13, 2008
In general, I love the book. Particularly the intro full of motivating and inspiring ideas. I've made quite a few recipes and would say that a handful are now regulars. I have two copies - one at work and one at home. If I can't think of anything to make for dinner, it's at my fingertips to look through before I leave for home. I love it!
