The Philips 26PF9966 gives you a high-performance, widescreen (16:9) image from a casing with a depth of little more than 4 inches. The 26-inch perfectly flat set offers high brightness (450 cd/m3) and high contrast (400:1), as well as integrated TV and FM radio tuners for cable or broadcast reception of all your favorite programs and stations. Hook it up to an optional DTV receiver or progressive-scan DVD player and you'll enjoy vivid, detailed images from 1080i, 720p, and 480p sources, which render at up to 720p resolution on the set's native 1,024 x 768-pixel screen. LCD technology allows screens to be thinner and televisions to be lighter and more energy-efficient than ever before. The result is television that not only fits on a wall, but fits in places conventional televisions cannot. The 26PF9966's comes outfitted with Digital Crystal Clear technology, a suite of picture innovations including Dynamic Contrast, a 3D digital comb filter, color-transient improvement (CTI), and green-/blue-stretch color enhancement. Pixel Plus uses the power of the Pixel Plus processor to enhance every single pixel displayed. The result is razor-sharp pixels with incredible detail and depth. A feature called Active Control Plus continually adjusts picture settings at over 60 times per second for all inputs, correcting both sharpness and noise reduction, even adjusting for changes in ambient viewing light. PIP features include standard picture-in-picture (a second source image inset within the main image), picture-by-picture (split-screen viewing), and picture-in-graphics (video source over PC image). The set pumps 5 watts per channel x 2 RMS (10 watts x 2 peak power), and onboard Dolby Virtual Surround simulates enveloping surround sound from any 2 speakers. FM tuning options include 40 convenient presets, RDS (Radio Data Service) for visual station and song identification, and auto/manual station setting. The unit's .125-inch headphone jack affords private listening. Bought the Phillips and have used it less than an hour a day (it is a second tv). I really liked it, and was even looking to buy another one for a different room, until it started getting green lines all across the screen only 5 months after I purchased it. With the problem ongoing, I called Phillips because the TV was still under warranty. They told me I would have to mail the TV (at my own express) via UPS or Federal Express to Arkansas (from the West Coast) and they would replace it with a refurbished one. A refurbished TV was not what I paid for, and they wanted me to spend another $100 in shipping costs to get it. Anyhow, after doing a little research, I found out that Phillips TV's are not the way to go -- apparently I am not the only one that has had problems.

This is a great TV. Good size for 2nd room. Hang on wall or put on stand. Very good sound, thought I would need external speakers, but built in speakers were all we needed.
