Boston Acoustics HDUOIMDNT Horizon Duo - I January 7, 2009 I ordered this product after careful review of similar items with the idea of having a decent clock radio with alarm. I have to say that my expectations were met and surpassed by this unit. The sound is simply fantastic. The bass is full and powerful with resulting music very enjoyable. The sensitivity of the AM/FM features included with the unit draw in the stations without any problem. I live in a rural area and the receiver quality is exceptional. I have not hooked up an external antenna for either AM or FM. The Ipod docking with charger is fantastic. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for the features I described. For the price, you just can't beat it. From time of order to delivery (during the holiday season) was quick easy to track.
Boston Acoustics Clock Radio / IPOD Docking Station January 6, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For the price, I feel the the fine folks at Boston Acoustics have done a terrific job putting together this little clock alarm. I've wanted to wake up to the sound of beautiful music for quite some time, but was unwilling to spend $350 - $400 on a BOSE to do so. When the unit is alarm radio starts in the morning, it comes up to the desired volume slowly. For the first time, I can hear every musical instrument in the band. I have always folded my clothes in my bedroom, so now I can benefit from a device which sounds like a home stereo, right there while folding.
One drawback is that I am a snoozer type guy, meaning that I like the snooze button. Unfortunately the unit only has a snooze time preset for 10 min. intervals. I feel that the option of 5, 7, or 10 min. would be better. But, that is my only complaint. Awesome sound.
Sounded great for the one month that it worked January 6, 2009 When I got an iPod Touch I decided to get a sound dock with a radio, to replace the Bose CD/radio system I had used previously. A PC that I once owned had Boston Acoustic speakers attached and the sound was fantastic, so I decided to get the Horizon Duo-i, hoping to get the same rich sound.
The sound was almost as good as my computer speakers, and certainly was as good as I had been hoping for. During the first weeks that I used the unit, there were occasional issues with getting the sound to go on after inserting the iPod. Sometimes I'd have to turn the unit off and then on again, other times I had to unplug it and plug it in again. I thought it was just a quirk of the mechanism, until, on New Year's Day, no sound would come out at all. After owning the system for less than one month, it had died.
I called BA to find out how I could get it repaired or replaced. They said I have to ship it to either Iowa or New York and in "5 or 6" days they will repair it and ship it back. I have to pay for outbound shipping, they will pay for the return. This seems like a lot of trouble to go for something that cost me $148.95 (I bought it at another site, so I paid less than Amazon's price). It seems to me that if you have something for less than a month and it ceases to function, you should not have to be further inconvenienced by having to pack it up, haul it to UPS, and pay for the shipping to send it in for repairs. On the other hand, I guess expecting quality and service at this price is unrealistic.
I doubt I will trust BA in the future. If they at least had made it easy for me, I might want to buy their products again, but with all this hassle, no. And now I have no radio.

Unbelievable sound from a clock radio. Boston Acoustics got this one right. High volume, good bass response, clean sound, two alarms, iPOD dock and a price that won't break the bank. Shipped from Electronics Expo for $70.00 cheaper than suggested MSRP. Ability to change out speaker grills to another color.
Look no further... December 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My number one comlaint about alarm clocks these days is that they all look like after-market car stereos or hello kitty trinkets, and even the best ones sound awful. For me, this unit solves those issues and more. Its appearence sets well in an upscale adult environment and it sounds better than anything else I've owned. I've owned the bose sound dock and others - none come close to providing what this unit does. I'm especially fond of having two aux's plus ipod mode. That means I can stream music to it with an airport express, use it with an ipod, as a radio, or to boost the bedroom tv audio, all without having to switch cables around. The only thing I would warn about is Boston's customer service. I've dealt with them a few times and it's a circus to say the least. One is left feeling like he just dealt with a small town used carpet store. If you want customer service buy Bose, if you want a SERIOUS ipod alarm clock radio in the bedroom that doesn't look like it belongs in your teenager's bedroom, look no further.
