XM Radio cheap January 8, 2009 Easy to work, but Modulator is very week, only works in on of our cars,
XM Xpress ez December 20, 2008 For the price this little receiver is great. It displays the channel you are listening to as well as the song...easy to use and preset for 10 favorite stations. I bought the whole family one for Christmas !!!
About as basic as it gets October 22, 2008 This device works okay, but it definitely has major limitations. For example, you cannot set your favorite artist or song so that it will let you know when another station plays them. Even my 3-year-old Roady II did that. Yes, it sets 10 of your favorite stations, but you can't just go straight to one of them. You have to push the one button available (the middle one) and keep punching until you get there. Note that there are no 1-10 buttons on the device; again, even my old Roady II had this, which finally bit the dust and I had to switch. Looks like I'll have to switch again...this thing barely makes the grade. No wonder it's so cheap...as the saying goes, you get what you pay for...
A major dissapointment! August 30, 2008 I've been a XM subscriber for several years now, and added this as a second unit. While I like the basic interface (keeping in mind that we SHOULD be keeing our eyes on the road!), I just about give up on the audio quality. Static is a major issue, and I am using the FM Sureconnect cable system.... and unlike my normal way of doing things - I actually read the manual (don't tell anyone!) to see if I did anything wrong and so on.
It seems as though I can't find a true dead spot on my Alpine HU to no avail. It works until I start moving, then static due to interference comes back - change dead channels... then down the road, static once again. Next step is a direct connect cable. Meanwhile, I am paying $7/mo for a gadget that is setting on the freezer in my garage.
If there was a remote control available, I'd swap it with the unit I have in the house. Overall I am very dissatisfied.
THE radio for no frills XM July 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you're looking for XM radio at home or car, this will fit the bill. I use mine as a component to my home stereo, and I drag it out to the car for trips. It works well both places. It is important to note that XM service is equal no matter what receiver you use. Why anyone would buy anything but this model is a mystery to me. The unit has not broken on me, and it seems rather hardy provided you handle with care. One bad thing about this product is that it does not come with a wall adapter, which makes its home use prohibitive without purchasing one a la carte.
