This other reviewer has no idea what he is talking about January 3, 2009 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This item was released WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY before the XM sirius merger. Meaning this product has nothing to do with any agreements. Not only did the other reviewer put no input on the device itself, but Basically only stated he wanted it cheaper... A.K.A., something for nothing. The radio is still the best availible, comes with the ability to rewind and pause your current channel, much like Tivo... just for the radio. You can store your favorite sports teams so you can be updated with scores, as well as game times. Considering the price, and the features it has, this is still, in my opinion, the best radio that is out there. The other reviewer is unfair, and obviously just wanted to get something for almost nothing and expect amazing things. Also The merger has nothing to do with the actual product, very biast opinion.
Starmate represents an FCC Violation December 9, 2008 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
When the government approved the XM/Sirius merger, they did so on the condition that they provide an a la Carte option to subscribers. The Starmate 5 is the only radio that is capable of a la Carte service. However, its price is way high for the features it has. This is an attempt by XM/Sirius to circumvent their responsibility under the merger agreement. The company must provide a less expensive radio for the a la carte service to comply with the merger agreement requirements. If companies like this would put more thought into satisfying their current and potential customers, they would not have to use deceptive tactics like this. I wish the government would step in and fine them for this latest tactic.
