Editorial Reviews:

If you were around in the `70s, the words "curling iron" may bring back haunting memories of big complicated hairdos and Farrah-Fawcett wings. But times have changed and curling irons are now low-fuss and gentler on hair than they were in the past. This Satin Finish model has a ceramic-coated barrel, which distributes heat evenly without creating frizz or hair damage like the curling irons of the earlier years. The ceramic technology also prevents the curling iron from sticking to hair and even promotes silky, shiny hair.

For quick styling, the Satin Finish instantly heats up 60 seconds after powering up and offers 30 different heat settings on its adjustable dial to accommodate all hair types. To create consistently perfect curls, the curling iron employs a feature called the Uniform Heat Recovery System. This system transfers heat from the barrel to hair during curling, causing the barrel to cool down slightly, and then resumes its former temperature before you curl the next section of hair.

The 1-1/2-inch barrel on this curling iron is a larger size that can curl hair under, flip ends up, or create wide, loose curls. For safety, this curling appliance has a heat-resistant shield that slides over the barrel while it's heating up or for storage. Other safety precautions include a cool tip on the end of the barrel; a built-in stand to raise the curler off the countertop; a power light; and a 6-inch tangle-free, swiveling cord. Conair provides a two-year limited warranty on its Satin Finish curling irons. --Cristina Vaamonde

3 out of 5 stars Good curling iron   November 2, 2008
I have dry, curly, frizzy long hair.
I make a brushing first, and then I use the iron to straight them.
Fast hot.
Change of temperature of the barrel is fast.
Resist to humidity.
But it dries (and burn a little i think) the hair, and so at the end of the day, my hair looks dry.
Nevertheless, it a good price/ quality balance.

1 out of 5 stars does not curl!!!   May 1, 2008
i bought this curler because I wanted to curl my hair for valentine's day. I've always used conair products but this one just didn't work. I left it in my hair for at least a minute, and my hair came out the way it started. I even tried using it with hair spray, still didn't work. I ended up taking it back an hour after I got it.

1 out of 5 stars wont curl my hair   August 15, 2006

I thought this curler was the best of the best being a well known brand and "ceramic." I was wrong. I paid $30 bucks for this thing and it didn't even curl my hair. I will go back to using the $10 generic curlers. I regret my purchase. I also regret throwing away the box before trying it, so I can't send it back now!

5 out of 5 stars Nice, big curls   February 24, 2006

We had to return the first iron we ordered because it shorted out on us, and found Amazon made it surprisingly easy!!! They didn't require us to pay return postage (like many others do), and they shipped a replacement out immediately, instead of waiting until they received the defective one, like many other mail-order firms do. The curling iron, by the way, works great.

4 out of 5 stars Great Product   October 24, 2005

I would suggest this curling iron to anyone who wants to buy a great product for an affordable price. It heats up extremely fast and the sleeve that comes with it makes it perfect for fast put away. I gave it a four star rating because as other reviews have mentioned the heat setting is positioned where it is easy to hit with your thumb. This has not been a problem to me but I could see where it could be.
