Amazon.com Review
Ideal for the chemically sensitive or those with small children, the Bissell Steam Mop deep-cleans hard-surface floors using the power of pure water alone. No harsh (or expensive) cleaners means no fumes or residues to irritate lungs or muddy delicate finishes, while the use of hot steam rather than buckets of water leaves floors dry in just seconds. Heated and ready to use in 30 seconds, the remarkably quiet mechanism works something like an iron: steam is dispensed on demand, rather than continuously, by pressing the trigger while passing the mop over the floor. Hot steam easily removes hardened and sticky gunk, especially if the mop sits over the mess for a few seconds. (Leave it in place 15 seconds to actually sanitize the cleaning surface.) The machine steams for approximately 15 minutes before the tank needs to be refilled, but there's no lag once you refill it.

The Steam Mop's low-profile 360-degree swiveling head accesses hard-to-reach nooks and crannies, like under kitchen cabinets, while its compact profile stores easily in small spaces. Other thoughtful design touches include a quick-release cord wrap and easy-carry handle, as well as a built-in water filter to protect from the minerals and impurities in hard water. (An indicator lets users know when the filter need to be replaced.) Durable, reusable microfiber pads are safe on all sealed hard surfaces and clean up nicely in the washing machine, making them more environmentally friendly than disposable options. Measuring 6 by 11 by 45-1/2 inches, the Bissell Steam Mop weighs less than 7 pounds and is covered by a one-year limited warranty.--Mary Park

5 out of 5 stars Better than the original Bissell 1867   October 9, 2008

Originally I had the Bissell 1867 white steam mop but when we moved to Florida I gave it to my daughter since she had lots of Prego in her house. It was a big mistake. I thought since my kitchen floor was smaller now it would be easier to take care of. No way. On 10/6/08 I ordered the "Green Tea" Model 1867-7. Received it today and used it immediately. Wow, what a difference. The mop head on the green one is smaller then the white one but it swivels. I also found that pushing it wasn't as hard as the white one. Since I'm in my 70s I was pleased with the ease of movement. Quick to give steam, did a fantastic job on the kitchen floor, next the foyer tile and the bathrooms. The swivel head on this will make it much easier to clean around the toilets. The cord was long enough to cover my kitchen and the foyer if I wanted to. So glad I bought it.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great even got dried paint off the floor   October 9, 2008

This mop works great. I have had it for a little over a year and finally really put it to the test this weekend. My wife had me clean the hall floors after the contractors left. They had left a few paint spots that had dried on the hard wood floors. There was also some small and one large spot from dropping Great Stuff (expanding foam). You don't know how hard that stuff is to get off anything till you used it. The paint and the smaller expanding foam spots came off. The larger spot shrunk to hald the size. Glad to see they didn't discontinue this item.

5 out of 5 stars Beats the Shark model   October 8, 2008

I purchased this when the Shark brand, shown on TV quit working. This beats the Shark all ways around.

4 out of 5 stars I Like it   October 7, 2008

I just got the Bissell steam mop and used it on my white tile floor. The main reason that I wanted to try the steam mop is I have 2 cats a dog and a cockatoo. The odors from fragrances/perfumes in household cleaners can be deadly to a bird. So whenever I moped the floor the bird would have to go outside until the floor dried. I had been using a sponge mop. The amount of tile floor I have consists of, laundry room, a hallway past 2 rooms, a foyer, a large dinning room, and a kitchen. The construction of the steam mop is on par with other appliances in this price range, it does not seem to be cheaply made. assembly consists of attaching the swivel head with a screw, attaching the handle with a screw, and filling the water bottle. The steam mop not only cleaned better than the sponge mop with dedicated tile cleaner, it was much easier to use, it pushes easier than the sponge mop, it gets closer to the base board, and I can clean under furniture I had to move before. It will remove minor scuff marks, the marks that come from sitting at a counter stool, no bucket to drag around, and no noxious "fragrance" odor. The cleaning leaves the floor wet but it dries in about 1/3rd the time of a moped floor. The bottom of the mop gets hot enough that I could not put my hand on the bottom of the mop when I was finished. I had to refill the water bottle once. I had to plug the mop into 3 outlets. Almost forgot, the steam mop is not as prone to streak as much as the sponge mop.
I rate this as a 4.5 stars it missed five stars because the cord to short.
