Product Description A hot day, a soft breeze, and a tall, cool drink in your hand . . . No longer just vacation-time treats, dozens of irresistible, frosty concoctions are just a whir of the blender away. In warm weather, there are few occasions--and few times of day--when an icy beverage doesn't hit the spot. For just such moments, frozen drink wizard Bruce Weinstein has created more than one hundred simple, innovative recipes for slushees, daiquiris, margaritas, coladas, chocolate and coffee drinks, and granitas and sorbets.
From traditional poolside favorites such as pine-apple daiquiris and pina coladas to the immensely popular coffeehouse Frappuccinos and Mochaccinos, Frozen Drinks covers the range of icy treats, tangy or sweet, slushy or smooth. Try starting your morning with a Quadruple Coffee Shake, take an afternoon break with a glass of Frozen Raspberry Lemonade, or savor a dessert of Iced German Chocolate Cake.
The book's introduction provides essential information for making perfect drinks every time, such as when to use fresh fruit and when canned or frozen fruit will do. Each recipe is nonalcoholic but has tasty variations, some with and some without alcohol.
There are also a number of creative suggestions for garnishes, such as crumbled peppermint patties on a Chocolate Mint Parfait or candy canes to top off a Cabana Striped Slush.
With dozens of ways to slice, dice, and blend your way through the summer, Frozen Drinks will be as welcome as an air conditioner in August.

Returned! February 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was very disappointed when I received this book... not worth the $10. Maybe in the 80-90's this book would have been good within its kind.. but really it is so short and simple. Only a few recipes, no illustrations, no fun! If you want a book to make fun drinks I recommend you look for something else. I returned it and got another one!

My drink mixing will be moving to the next level, thanks to Mr. Weinstein. I will make blackberry daiqueries in June, a frozen watermelon drink in July, a honeydew drink in August and a peach drink in September. I will use the right liqueurs and blend until silky smooth. A shame there are no photos.
Great Book February 24, 2003 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I am an amateur at the art of mixology and this book has some great recipes for folks like me. Also because I don't drink, I appreciate the book's focus being on the drink itself and not on alcohol. It has a a little box on the bottom of add-ons for those who want to "kick it up a notch".
good to the last drop June 5, 1997 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
What a find! I am so happy to have a book that lets me fix down-and-dirty as well as froo-froo drinks for all my friends, both those who imbibe and those who don't. The drinks in this book and inventive and new--not the same old boring stuff in other drink books. It makes a great housewarming present, and a great Fourth of July resource
