4 out of 5 stars Well built, half done manual, hard build   February 25, 2010

Packaged in plenty of Styrofoam, leaving Styrofoam bits everywhere. My 19 year old son and I build it with some problems. The outer cabinet was wrapped and very hard to match the holes. The directions have the pieces labeled but they do not specify which direction to put the part in and the pictures are poor. A piece can fit one of two ways and will fit both. Then into the build you will find several of the pieces have holes not lining up cause some of the pieces are put in backwards. We used a portable electric driver and accessory bits with Phillips bits, regular and Allen bits. I would advise you have an electric driver with at least these bits. Makes it faster and we have to dissemble 4 times even following the directions. The electric driver makes it easy to assemble and dissemble, At the end of the constructions you have to drive Phillips screws into wood with a dimple of a pilot hole. The electric driver will help drive the screws into wood that is not predrilled for wood screws. The back panels are in slots and were very difficult to keep in, they almost seemed over sized. The casters that come with the unit are good. Over all well built for a prefab, but there is going to be a struggle to put it together. Even with an electric driver it took 2 of us 2 hours due to reassembly.

4 out of 5 stars Handy Kitchen Island   February 15, 2010

This Kitchen Island arrived promptly and was well packaged.I rated it 4 stars only because of the difficulty to assemble. It took over two hours for my husband and I and we think that we are handy with tools. It definitely takes two people. However, the end result was well worth the effort.I put a marble top on mine that I already had and it looks great! We had to call the manufacturer for new drawer slides because of damage to the ones that arrived."plastic" Need I say more. That said, the replacements arrived promptly and were an easy install. I like the fact that it's on wheels. It fit my small kitchen space perfectly.I would order this again and recommend to others. For the price you really can't beat it.I took out the center two open shelves and put in a bin from the container store that is perfect for recycling or trash.Happy customer

5 out of 5 stars Napa Kitchen Center   January 24, 2010

Purchased the Napa kitchen center to gain not only the counter space but storage space as well. The center delivers both; it is a perfect size and we are able to store quite few things in it. The counter space is great to work on. We also like being able to move the island around the kitchen as needed.
The center is made well with attention to detail and looks great in our kitchen.
With two of us assembly was easier than expected; all pieces were marked and instructions were clear and easy to follow.

Delivery was prompt from shipper to the West Coast. From there we used freight forwarder to have the merchandise delivered to Hawaii.

We are very happy with our purchase!!

5 out of 5 stars excellent value, a lot of work to install   June 17, 2009

I'm very happy with this product. It's made of high quality wood, and all the pieces fit together very snugly. It's not only well thought out and extremely useful, but also quite attractive. The cupboards are sufficient to store my frequently used pots and pans, and two drawers are nice for storing all sorts of other odds and ends. Plus the counter offers a great big workspace for chopping/cutting etc. I also like that the counter is fairly high, meaning a tall guy like myself doesn't need to stoop too much to work on it. Once assembled, I was impressed how solid the whole construction seems.

Assembling this monster is a major undertaking. First off, just getting the enormous and rediculously heavy box from the porch to the kitchen was quite a feat. Opening up the *huge* box and seeing part after part after part come out is definitely an intimidating experience. Also the instructions are pretty bad. The pictures are too small to see certain important details, and some of the diagrams are just plain wrong. I ended up assembling and unassembling certain parts a few times before I got it right, due to the shoddy instructions. That said, the whole process took me (working alone) maybe 3-4 hours total.

Challenging installation aside, like I said before, I couldn't be happier with the end product. And at the price they charge for this thing on Amazon, it's an absolute steal.
